My bank keeps asking me to opt-in to overdraft protection

I don’t know what’s going on, or why the rules changed, but for some reason my bank is no longer allowed to provide me with overdraft protection without my consent. Thank god my bank is looking out for my best interests and protecting me from my own idiocy. Without overdraft protection, I wouldn’t be able to spend money I don’t have (well, I mean, with my credit cards, sure, but not with my checking account). There’s a $35 fee, and I might get charged that fee several times for minuscule purchases, but it’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.

All I’m saying is, the rules changed, make sure to opt-in to your bank’s overdraft protection program. Also, I encourage you to write a letter to your elected representatives asking them why they are adding this pointless extra step which inhibits your bank’s ability to protect you.
